THE TRIBIKE TRANSPORT SERVICE EXPERIENCE
With TriBike Transport, simply drop off your bike at one of our PARTNER BIKE SHOPS a few days to a week in advance of your triathlon or cycling event. You will find a drop-off schedule for each event we serve on the LOGISTICS link on our EVENTS page. You may even wish to have your partner shop give your bike a pre-race tune-up before we transport it to your event (contact your shop directly to schedule your tune-up). We’ll carefully load your bike - fully-assembled* - on one of our secure, smooth-riding trucks and drive it to your race.
Your bike will never leave our possession and will arrive at its destination a few days prior to race day. You will be able to pick it up at or within walking distance of the race transition area and ride it immediately, confident that all nuts and bolts are securely tightened and that your custom fit remains unchanged.
Once you've completed your race, you’ll wheel your bike over to our convenient location within walking distance of the transition area and we'll take it off your hands. You’ll be free to enjoy your race accomplishment while we load your bike and transport it back to your local shop to be picked up when you return home.
The fee for our entire round-trip service starts at $300**, significantly less than what you would be charged for an airline’s oversized baggage fee. For an additional $35, we will also transport a medium-sized GEAR BAG to most races.*** The gear bag is a great way to ship pedals, helmet, bike shoes, water bottles, wetsuit and Co2 cartridges (continental shipments only).
*PEDALS, seat post mounted CARBON FIBER hydration systems, and rear SOLID disc wheels must be removed. Keep your PEDALS and CARBON FIBER hydrations systems with you or pack them in an optional gear bag ($35 fee). Put your rear SOLID disc wheel in a clearly marked wheel bag and we’ll transport it at no extra charge.
**Fees may vary depending on location of the event.
*** International events and certain other locations are not eligible for gear bag transport. Maximum allowable weight of gear bag is 25 lbs. We cannot transport bags or backpacks with wheels. We don't recommend including nutritional items such as energy bars, gels and powders. No liquids please.
SERVICE COMPARISON
Transporting a bike via most airlines can be a logistical nightmare, not to mention quite costly. Here’s a rundown of what’s involved with choosing airline transport for your bike:
- Disassembly/reassembly of bike - either have the time and know-how yourself, or pay a mechanic to do it for you (approximately $35 each of four procedures, $140 total)
- Purchase ($300-400) or rental ($50) of bike case - plus the hassle of hauling it through the airport along with all your gear
- Standard airline bike fee (up to $200 each way, $400 total), plus oversize fee if bike + case exceeds 50lbs (up to $200 additional each way, $400 total) - plus the stress of wondering whether your bike will arrive on time and unbroken
- Upgrade car rental to accommodate bike (approximately additional $20/day)
- Make time for reassembly of bike
- All this stress and expense, when you’d prefer to rest and focus on being ready for your big day!
- Repeat the disassembly/reassembly process following the race
- TOTAL COST may be upwards of $500!
YOU WILL LITERALLY SAVE HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS AND IMMEASURABLE PEACE OF MIND UTILIZING THE EASY & ECONOMICAL SERVICE OF TRIBIKE TRANSPORT!!
